Stand in the river at Yukimatsu Mura and the pan works while you do something else. No weapon, no level, no build — nothing in this trade reads a single one of your stats, so a brand-new character pans exactly as well as a maxed one.

Three stages, three rolls, and each one is worth watching: what the river turns up, what the mercury sets it into, and what the pot finally weighs out.

  1. Shake the pan

    Once every 5 seconds, hands-free. Turns up Kurosuna — raw ore, in three sizes.

  2. Work it with mercury

    Dose the ore until it sets into Kongou, the amalgam. The bigger the ore, the bigger what it becomes.

  3. Pour it out

    Retort the amalgam at the smelting pot. Three bonuses land one after another, then the weight — and out comes Koban.

A Take pan is 20 Kin — pocket change, and genuinely all you need to start. Buy one, walk into the river, and you are panning.

Stand in the water, not on the bank. You need open water a tile to your left and a tile to your right — the pan swings out at arm's length. Walk out of the river and the session stops, so pick your spot before you go and make tea.

Stage 1 — shake the pan

The pan shakes itself every 5 seconds and carries 100 shakes, printed right on the item. That is 8 minutes per pan, and the count only moves when the pan actually does something.

A better pan buys both more ore and bigger ore. Small ore doubles at each step up, and the rare sizes climb faster than that: a Sugi finds large ore 20x as often as a Take, and pulls 21 pieces of ore out of a single 8-minute session.

Stage 2 — work the ore

Ore does not become gold on its own. Dose it with mercury at the bench until the batch sets — and what it sets into is worth a great deal more than what went in.

How many flasks a batch takes is its own roll, and it is the tense part of the trade: the first few always pass, and after that every single drop can be the one that sets it. There is a mercy stop at 500 flasks on large ore, so an unlucky batch cannot run on forever.

Lots, for when you would rather not click

Dose 1, 5, 10 flasks at a time. A lot is charged in full even when the batch sets on the first drop, so the convenience has a price — and it is a very different price depending on the ore:

On large ore x10 costs almost nothing (+4.6%) and saves ten presses. On small ore, dose one at a time.

Large ore is the only ore that never leaves you empty-handed. When a big batch does not set into gold it still leaves Shirogane or Akagane — silver and copper, retorted at the same pot for Kin and Yen. One more reason the Sugi pan is the one people work up to.

Stage 3 — pour it

Take the amalgam to a pot and light it. No pour ever comes out empty — there is no blank at this stage. Three bonuses reveal one at a time, each worth 0% to +100%, and they add: all 3 together multiply the weight by up to 4x.

The weight lands last, and that is the whole reveal: you watch two percentages climb without knowing yet whether you are multiplying them by three hundred or by thirty thousand. It is also the real order of the work — you cannot weigh gold until the mercury has boiled off.

Band 5 is the one people talk about. It draws a weight above what the ceiling can even hold, so it multiplies straight past it and clamps — a 100,000 Koban pour off one piece of large ore, which is 1,000 NMON out of a single pot.

Reach x2 of what an ore is worth and the whole server hears about it on world chat.

Panning as a business

Here is the part most people miss. Ore is an ordinary bag item, and it trades. No market flag, no lock — it passes hand to hand between players like anything else.

You can run this trade without touching mercury at all. Buy a pan with Kin, stand in the river, and sell the Kurosuna you pull out to the players who want to work it. A Sugi session turns up 21 pieces in 8 minutes, and your only outlay was the pan.

The counter rounds down to a whole NMON and takes only the chips it swapped, so a remainder under 100 stays safely in your bag instead of being swallowed.

Provably fair

Before you shake anything the server publishes a commitment — the SHA-256 of the seed it is about to use. When the session ends it reveals that seed, and every draw in between was HMAC-SHA256(seed, yourSeed + ":" + nonce).

Which means you can recompute every roll yourself and confirm nothing was re-drawn: not the ore, not the flask that set it, not the weight. The odds on this page are not a claim about the game — they are the tables the server runs, and the commitment is what lets you check that it ran them.
